MNRAAA Services

Information and Assistance: Through the Senior LinkAge Line™, Senior Outreach Specialists, and trained volunteers, MNRAAA assists in connecting seniors, their family members and professionals with locating services they need. Staff and volunteers also assist clientele with aging related questions and with such services as health insurance counseling.  A directory of local and regional organizations and service providers is maintained and updated constantly.  The Senior Linkage Line® toll free telephone number is 1-800-333-2433. By calling this number you will be connected to trained specialists who will assist you in finding the information you need. Senior services can also be found on the internet at www.minnesotahelp.info.

Community Planning and Service Development: Staff will provide technical assistance to local units of government, agencies, organizations, service providers, and senior citizen groups/centers who are developing /enhancing programs, including assistance with researching funding options and grant writing. 

Coordination: Staff assess, plan, and coordinate aging programs.  Our goal is to enhance service offerings and ensure that the needs of our senior population are being met.  A high priority is placed on developing a strong network of service providers for the expansion and development of aging programs.

Advocacy: As representatives of older citizens in our communities, staff frequently serves as senior advocates.  Advocacy ranges from identifying a need for services, establishing goals and priorities in service delivery and providing information on appropriate legislation for local, state, and federal issues.

Education and Training: The Area Agency on Aging provides education and training on issues that are of interest and concern to older adults, families, persons with disabilities, and service providers.  Staff attend and provide assistance to Senior Expos and local community senior events.

Volunteer Recognition: Annually, older adults are recognized for providing outstanding volunteer service to their communities.  The Golden Heart Award is presented in special recognition of outstanding volunteerism by a nursing home resident.
